Is it worth catching up on long-running comic series?
I thought it would be impossible to get back into X-Men because I had missed so many years of stories. Then I found https://www.firstcomicsnews.com/x-men-age-of-revelation/ while reading comic news, and it gave me a much clearer picture of what the new event was about. It didn't make me feel like I had to know every past issue, which was nice. After reading it, I started checking out a few newer comics instead of trying to begin from the very first series, and that approach has been much more enjoyable.

Scrolling through a local pokies group on Facebook, a guy posted a long rant about how he almost quit but then hit a big multiplier on a crash game. Golden Reels caught my eye because they offered a demo mode for every single game without forcing me to make an account first, which is great for us in AU. I practiced for a bit, then deposited real money and immediately started losing on a virtual roulette table. The ball kept landing on the exact opposite numbers I bet on, and my balance slowly evaporated into thin air. I sat there staring at the screen, feeling completely foolish for falling for a Facebook post. I set a mental limit to walk away after losing my initial deposit, accepting the bitter defeat. Just as I stood up to get a drink, I switched to a crash game and let a small bet ride to a high multiplier. It triggered a chain reaction of wins that multiplied my tiny remaining balance into a massive pile. I sat back down and cashed out a very satisfying profit.
